Family friendly activities in Fort Lauderdale: Pirate Adventure!

Pirate Adventure in Fort Lauderdale with The Little Voyager

Now that Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club forms part of our collection of child-friendly accommodation, I wanted to write about some of the fun things we did with our kids while we were there.

One highlight was definitely the pirate cruise we took with Bluefoot Pirate Adventures.

Pirates and The Little Voyager

We spent an afternoon full of adventure and my son had the time of his life fighting off Barnacle Bill and finding the hidden treasure!

This cruise, which lasts for about 1:30h including a briefing, face painting and dressing up as real pirates, is a great opportunity for small pirates to sail on a real pirate ship with Captain Moe in search of the hidden treasure. The departure point is about 10 minutes drive from the hotel.

The staff was very engaging and all kids enjoyed the trip and so did we! The interactive cruise goes along the beautiful Fort Lauderdale’s Intracoastal Waterway, where parents can view the many mansions and yachts along the way while the kids have fun shooting water cannons.

Once Barnacle Bill has been defeated and the hidden treasure is found, the crew hands out an official pirate certificate and a goody bag to all kids to take back home.

My daughter was a little too young for the trip but she was brave and joined the cruise anyway, but I would say that the recommended age should be 3 and older as it gets a bit noisy.
