Cooking healthy food for your family can be quite tricky especially because most of us do not have much time on our hands to buy and prepare food and to look up new recipes. I don’t know about you but I feel guilty when my kids eat the same breakfast every morning and when the afternoon snack is the same apple or cookie each day.

If you are looking for a great place to buy second hand toys and kids clothes look no further, the German School in Esplugues is opening its doors again for the 31st edition of its flea market next Saturday on October 6th.

The flea market takes place twice a year where one can find everything from second hand clothes for babies & toddlers (some adult clothes as well), books and all kinds of toys for children and few other things.

All of you that have children know that there is a lot of truth behind the saying “it takes a village” and it can be very tough to find that village especially when you live abroad and don’t have your family support system in place.

This is why SocialFam has been created with the idea to create a community for international families in Barcelona focusing on family wellbeing, bringing people together and supporting each other’s businesses.

Those who follow my family on Instagram or Facebook may know that we went on a very special trip in August, experiencing two of the most child-friendly resorts in the Maldives.

On our way back we also checked out Abu Dhabi for families and I am very pleased to announce we will have several new accommodation coming online soon!

As we all know, becoming a parent changes your life and finding time for yourself is a complicated task especially when the kids are still small.

This is why a group of 3 active mothers had a vision and wanted to create a new space where parents can find time for themselves and are able to work out, work, have a cup of coffee or simply relax while the kids are well taken care of and are having fun doing great activities.

Alright, let me just start off here by saying, honestly and sincerely, no judgment for what sleep routine or lack of that’s gone down in the last couple of months.

I know… I’m a child sleep consultant and you may think that I’m going to chastise you for the late bedtimes, unenforced rules, inconsistent schedules, or any of the many “inadvisables” that may have taken place over your summer vacation.

During these hot days when outside temperatures rise over 30 degrees, our homes are likely to heat-up dramatically and there is no real cooling down in the evenings.

In their first weeks after being born, newborns have difficulties regulating their thermal balance. Therefore it is crucial that the little ones are being protected against heat and overheating and also the older babies and toddlers who are struggling during hot nights and need some help.

Every time I walk with my kids towards the Kids Villa at Grand Hotel Heiligendamm, it feels like Pippi Longstocking will stick her head out of one of the big windows to greet us… And indeed there is something really fairy tale like about this villa which makes my kids and myself feel very much at home.

Now that Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club forms part of our collection of child-friendly accommodation, I wanted to write about some of the fun things we did with our kids while we were there.

One highlight was definitely the pirate cruise we took with Bluefoot Pirate Adventures.

We spent an afternoon full of adventure and my son had the time of his life fighting off Barnacle Bill and finding the hidden treasure!

Now that Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club forms part of our collection of child-friendly accommodation, it is about time to write about fun activities with kids once in Fort Lauderdale.

One highlight is a visit to the great Museum of Science and Discovery.

Only a 15 minute cab ride from the hotel, you can find this unique museum suitable for young and old with many interesting things to see and do.

Although summer is in full swing and cold weather seems a long way off, now is a good time to plan a winter break – especially if you want to get away over Christmas or New Year. These weeks fill up fast, so it makes sense to think ahead.

Happy Milk recently opened its second family club in town. This one in uptown Sarrià is a beautiful space for international families where kids can play in a safe and inspiring environment (there is even a “secret garden” in the backyard) while parents can attend interesting classes and networking sessions or join fun play groups with their little ones.
