The charming five-star Austrian Nature Retreat is nestled in an idyllic valley surrounded by mountains in the region of Salzburg. Here, luxury and sustainability go hand in hand. The resort gets its water from its own mountain spring, and even the swimming pool has crystal clear, drinkable water. The natural playground is made from local timber, and the food and animal products are mainly sourced from the hotel’s own farms, or from other farms in the region. The cosmetics offered in the hotel’s suites and spas are 100 % plant-based natural cosmetics. There is also a charging station for electric cars on site.
Age-appropriate childcare programs are offered for babies up to teenagers, focusing on different nature-related activities (daily from 9 am to 9 pm). There is a nursery for babies as young as one month up to 2,5 years (with previous registration) and individual care can also be arranged (for an additional fee). For toddlers and younger children, there is a family play area (with an indoor playground and a cosy reading corner) and a childcare area (which features a painting and wood atelier, a mudroom, a building corner, a children’s kitchen and much more). Children will also enjoy the outdoor entertainment options, including an archery course, a giant trampoline, a fleet of vehicles to ride and pedal on, a soccer field and farm animals. There are also different courses offered for children (individually or in groups), from pony or horseback riding to swimming, skiing, snowboarding and tennis. For older children and teens, activities include pool parties, an overnight stay in the alpine cabin or the hay barn, barbecues at the campfire, movie screenings, disco parties and theatre performances. There is also a designated room with table tennis, foosball and a pool table.
The full board meal plan includes child-friendly options, as well as exquisite 5-course menus composed of regional and seasonal delicacies for adults. For babies, there is a selection of organic porridges available. Toddlers and younger children will enjoy the special buffet with fresh and varied kid’s food. The restaurant offers breath-taking views of the lake and surrounding mountains.
The hotel has its own organic farm with friendly animals to visit during your stay. Additionally, 14 Icelandic horses and a donkey live on the grounds. Horse-riding lessons are offered for beginners and advanced riders in a newly built riding arena. There is also a 2 km panoramic riding trail around the hotel grounds that is ideal for pony walks and rides.
At the Nature Spa (over 1300 m²) guest can relax in one of the various saunas and relaxation rooms, where highlights include bathing in fresh spring mountain water, a tea lounge, a whirlpool and the ice fountain. Besides the classic beauty treatments offered, there are also pampering packages for mums-to-be, relaxing partner treatments and baby massages that can be booked additionally.
For those looking for an active holiday, the Austrian Nature Retreat is an ideal destination in both summer and winter. In the warmer months, guided hikes (also family-friendly) and bike tours are offered almost daily. Hatha yoga sessions take place on the plateau above the resort, and professional trainers lead functional training, body fitness and back training classes in the fitness centre. In winter, there is a dedicated practice slope for little skiers, complete with magic carpet and classic ski lifts. Advanced skiers will enjoy the family ski area close by. There is also s cross-country ski trail and a toboggan run alongside the resort.
