An exceptionally comfortable base for families to explore the vibrant city of Barcelona, this apartment is sunny, spacious and sophisticated. Located in an art nouveau building in the Example district, it is within walking distance of many of the major attractions, but is nonetheless delightfully quiet, with various common areas and space to sleep up to six.
A key feature is the light-filled gallery at the rear, which overlooks a courtyard and garden and fills the whole apartment with natural light.
The apartment has been renovated and decorated with impeccable taste, preserving the original mosaic floor tiles, wooden doors and ceilings, and complementing these with a carefully chosen collection of antique and modern pieces of furniture, one-off light fixtures, canvases and sculptures. In addition to being cool and characterful, it has been equipped with every convenience – from hair dryers and juice-makers to a full complement of baby gear – for an ideal family stay.
Accommodation comprises one master bedroom with double bed and balcony, a second bedroom with two single beds (these can be pushed together and covered with a mattress topper to create a second double) and a third bedroom with a single bed and fitted wardrobe. A sixth guest can be accommodated on a sofa bed in the library area. Beds are new and extremely comfortable, and all linens and towels are top quality.
Living areas include the sun-filled gallery space, where huge windows provide garden views and a daybed is ideal for a little quiet reading, the cosy main sitting room with a fireplace and large sofa, and the open plan library area, equipped with a writing desk, book cases and second sofa.
Completing the package is a modern, fully equipped kitchen with a designer dining table, a contemporary bathroom with a large walk-in shower and his & hers sinks, two separate toilets, and a lift (that fits a stroller) for easy access to street level.

The Area
The area of Sant Antoni lies within the Eixample neighbourhood, a laid back residential area within easy reach of the main attractions, but well away from the noise of the more tourist-oriented areas. The grid layout makes it easy to navigate and the buildings, most of which were constructed in the early 20th century, are elegant examples of the Modernist style, built around central courtyards.
A recent gentrification of the area has attracted a growing number of young, creative residents, and design boutiques, causal cafes, tapas bars and brunch spots are popping up in the area. In fact, the area is becoming a big foodie destination – this is where celebrated chef Ferran Adriá opened his restaurants.
At the heart of Sant Antoni is the market by the same name (currently closed for renovations but due to reopen in April 2018), one of the most popular markets in the city, selling fresh produce inside, clothes, shoes and house wares outside, and on Sundays, second hand books.
L’Eixample is a very family-friendly neighbourhood, with lots of green spaces, including the Joan Miro park, with playgrounds, basketball and football pitches, and Montjuic where one can go running, walking or take a picnic is just two minutes away. The pedestrianized Avenida Mistral is also a great place to enjoy the many café terraces and play areas for children.
To the southwest is Plaça Catalunya, the very heart of the city and meeting point of various major avenues, and to the northeast is Plaça Espanya, home to the Las Arenas shopping centre and the Museum of Catalan Art. The atmospheric old town and the Passeig de Gracia, where most of Barcelona’s high-end shops are concentrated, are also within walking distance.
