Our Reviews

Katrina Gufler stayed at Lux* Belle Mare with her family in April 2022: "My family have just arrived home from an amazing two weeks in Mauritius, we stayed at the Lux* Belle Mare and I cannot recommend Sandra and Ilonka enough for their amazing service with helping to book this hotel, I’m so happy we booked with The Little Voyager, they made it totally stress-free from researching many properties for us and booking everything including taxi transfers. We are already talking about next year’s holiday which we will be booking with them!"

Sugar has an important place in Mauritian history. This tour takes visitors through a refurbished sugar mill, where they can learn about the history of the island and taste different Mauritian products like unrefined brown sugar and jam. Le Saint Geran Colourful Hills with The Little VoyagerThis spot has become a tourist favorite in recent years, but even with the increased crowds it’s a must-see attraction on the island. Visitors can see the dunes from several platforms set up for that purpose. The walk from nearby Chamarel takes you past an 83-metre waterfall, so make sure to plan enough time to make the detour.

Visit Port Louis

Le Saint Geran Port Louis with The Little VoyagerThe Mauritian capital of Port Louis is a wonderful island city with plenty to see and do. Its most famous attraction is probably the central market, where locals and tourists alike shop for everything from vegetables, fruits and spices to clothes and souvenirs. La Place d’Armes, the city’s main square, connects the imposing building of the Government House to the seafront. The UNESCO World Heritage Site Aapravasi Ghat commemorates the place where indentured labourers from India first arrived on the island. The city also has plenty of small museums, restaurants and shopping to explore.

Vist L’Ile aux Cerfs

L’Ile aux Cerfs is an 87-hectare island off the east coast of Mauritius. It’s famous for its 18-hole championship golf course, which is considered one of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. There are several restaurants and bars on the island, as well as long stretches of pristine white sand beaches. L’Ile aux Cerfs is accessible by boat from Port Maurice. Shuttles leave every 30 minutes from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Area

The east coast of Mauritius is known for its succession of pristine beaches and beautiful, emerald-coloured lagoons. The most picturesque stretch of coast is Belle Mare beach, a white sand beach popular with locals and tourists alike. The nearby village of Central Flacq has one of the island’s largest open-air markets on Wednesdays and Sundays, and is well worth a trip. Other nearby spots to visit include the Roches Noires caves and the lagoon and mangroves around Ile d’Ambre. The East Road is less frequented than others on the island, and goes from Grand River South East to Mahebourg along the coast, passing through small fishing villages and along gorgeous views of the Grand Port mountain range along the way.
