Schloss Elmau is a contemporary luxury hotel that combines the charms of traditional Bavaria with high-end luxury services. It provides a wealth of facilities and services for guests to enjoy, including a wide range of outdoor activities as well as different wellness, gastronomic and cultural experiences.

The resort is made up of two 5-star superior hotels, known as the Hideaway and the Retreat. The Hideaway was rebuilt in 2005 after a fire destroyed most of the original early 20th century building. It includes the resort’s legendary concert hall (which was spared by the fire), three separate luxury spas for adults and families, eight restaurants (including the 2 Michelin Star awarded Luce d’Oro), a bookstore, three libraries and a Jivamukti yoga center.

The Retreat was built in 2015 and served as residence for the heads of state and government together with the Hideaway during the G7 Summit that year. It is located 150 meters away from the main building and has breathtaking views from its terraces. The facilities include 3 restaurants, a library lounge, a women-only spa (reserved for adults), a family spa, an adults-only spa, a gym and a yoga pavilion. Guests staying at either of the hotels may use all of both hotels’ facilities, with the exception of the breakfast and the spas located at the Retreat, which are exclusively reserved for guests staying there.

Children will enjoy the many entertainment and sports options the resort has to offer, including spending a day with their parents at one of the family spas, making new friends at the Kids Club or joining some of the many workshops and outdoor activities organized every day.

Families can also enjoy the outdoor nature spa (open from June to September), which is located only a few steps away from both hotels. This area includes an outdoor pool, a creek, three clay tennis courts, a playground and a pool café.

The beautiful surrounding nature, with its majestic peaks, whispering forests and shallow creeks is ideal for hikes and other outdoor activities. Guests can swim in the crystal-clear waters of Ferchen Lake, located 3km away from the property. The lake can be reached by a 10-minute bike ride, a 30-minute jog or an hour-long walk. Guests will also enjoy taking the cogwheel train to visit Zugspitze, Germany’s highest mountain (2.962 meters above sea level), and admiring the spectacular views of the surrounding peaks.
