The Austrian Mountain Resort is a beautifully designed 4-star hotel located in the middle of the mountains in East Tyrol. The resort is car-free and focuses on offering guests a sustainable, family-friendly experience in harmony with the surrounding nature.

The hotel offers ski-in, ski-out access to the ski pistes in the winter and is designed to give guests the best ski experience possible, with 42 km of pistes and a free beginners skiing area. AT THE HOTEL

Forest Childen’s Club

The hotel’s kids club has direct access to the beginner’s ski area and surrounding nature, and focuses on making sure kids can enjoy the beautiful outdoors around the hotel in any season. Some of the kids clubs’ activities include barefoot walks, crafts from natural materials, and play in the forest playground, and eat picnics in the meadow. Kids can also play inside in the hotel’s bouldering room or splash in the indoor pool, which also has its own water slide.

With a focus on active, outdoor fun, the teens club is the perfect place for children 12 and up to make friends their age and explore the mountains and forests around the hotel in an enjoyable, supervised way. Some of the activities include bike tours, pool volleyball, slack line, open-air cinema, geocaching, and barefoot walks. In the winter, the ski school is open to help teens learn to ski or perfect their technique.

In winter, the nearby ski school gives children and teens a chance to become expert skiers, whether they’re donning skis for the first time or simply perfecting their technique. A bus picks children up at reception and brings them directly to the school. Lienz, about 20 minutes drive from the resort,  has lots to offer families looking for fun, including riding a cable car that takes you up to a petting zoo, playground, and climbing park. For the more adventurous, the 2.7-kilometre “Osttirodler,” one of the longest Alpine roller coasters, can take you back down when you’re done. So much fun and there is enough to do to spend the entire day there.

The trails surrounding the hotel are a mountain biker’s paradise, with a single 3,000 metre trail and several routes offering both advanced cyclists and beginners a chance to push themselves and see the plungingl mountain views from the top. The trail is also accessible by lift for those who would rather focus their energy on the downhill sections.

Winter fun

Make the most of the Alpine winter wonderland with a winter hike, toboggan run, snowshoe walk, or cross-country skiing. The hotel sometimes offers guided snowshoe walks for those who want to head off the beaten path.

The Area

Kals am Grossglockner is a sunny Austrian Alpine village set in a high-altitude valley (1,325 metres) between the Schober, Glockner, and Granatspitz mountain groups and at the foot of Grossglockner, Austria’s highest mountain. The pristine scenery and colourful farmhouses are  straight out of The Sound of Music, and the local culture is a rich tapestry of old and new traditions, which are on full in the Glocknermuseum and are carefully preserved by local associations.
