General

The German Treehouses

are beautifully designed cabins located high up in the midst of a deep forest.      .

Total capacity:

  • four tree houses (that can each accommodate up to 4 people)
  • a stilt house (for up 8 people)
  • a sleeping trailer (for 2 people)
  • a block hut (for 2 people)
  • five tree tents (for up to 3 people)

Useful things to know:

  • The closest airports are Kassel (45 minutes away by car) and Hannover (1,5 hours away by car).
  • Each treehouse is accessible by stairs and suspension bridges.
  • An organic breakfast buffet or a half board meal plan that includes dinner can be booked in advance
  • Honesty bar on site
  • Simple yet beautifully built treehouses. Most of the wood used to make them came from the surrounding forest
  • Ideal location for family day trips, both in the woods or to nearby towns
  • The property is open all year around, though the tree tents are only available in the warmer months
  • Babies and toddlers are welcome and can sleep in their parents’ beds in the tree houses.
  • There is a sauna on site that is open during winter season

Guests of all ages will love this unique chance to fulfil a childhood dream: spending the night in a beautiful treehouse in the middle of a magical forest, listening to the sounds of nature around them.

Each treehouse is unique, and each has its own aesthetic. They are all built with natural materials, mostly from the local forest. The property also offers the option to sleep in a tree tent (a cross between a tent and a hammock). These tents are stretched between the trees and  elevated off the ground.  They give guests the feeling of floating in the forest (a similar feeling to sleeping on a trampoline).

The German Treehouses are a great destination for every season: in spring and summer you can enjoy a drink at the large forest bar’s outdoor seating area or relax on your own “balcony” high up in the tree. In autumn the forest is painted in dazzling fall colours, and in winter everything turns into a magical winter wonderland, and the tree houses become warm and cosy hideaways where guests can watch the forest frost glitter around them, thanks to the individual heating and/or stove systems.

The restaurant serves a vegetarian breakfast buffet with organic, seasonal products every day. In the evenings, dinner is prepared for guests who order in advance. The forest bar offers coffee, tea and organic lemonades, as well as snacks, beer and wine.

Our Reviews

Renee and her family stayed at the German Treehouse in August 2020: "Ilonka helped us book at the German Treehouses and it was so wonderful. The area is perfect for relaxing and letting kids roam. We stayed in the Stilt house that has a swing in it and our children were entertained the whole time. Not one request for WiFi or video games, they were completely happy and didn’t want to leave!!! Would love to come back and stay in Autumn as leaves change!"

Arne and his family stayed at the German Treehouse in August 2020: "We had a great time at the German Treehouses. There is definitely a special vibe and atmosphere to the place! Our house was very cosy and nicely decorated with wooden elements. Our son loved the bunkbed and our daughter was fascinated by the composting toilet - which was very clean and comfortable to use, by the way! The staff was very friendly and recommended a short walk in the woods that was perfect for little legs too. We also enjoyed a lovely dinner on the restaurant's outdoor terrace, with our children running around after the meal, playing with other children. Thank you, The Little Voyager, for yet another lovely holiday recommendation!"
