Our Reviews

Christina K. stayed at the Apulian Designt Apartments with her family in August 2022: "We came back from a week at the Apulian Design Apartments in Fasano, Puglia. The apartments were exactly that! And what they lacked in luxury made it up in authenticity :) The Masseria enjoys endless gardens for children to run and play! We also had the chance to pick figs, grapes and prunes from the many trees around the Masseria that elevated our breakfast :) Ilonka and Caroline were very helpful, helping us adjust our program to fit the fact we were 3 families with 7 children! Very well done and we will definitely be contacting you again in the future!"

Beach

Apulian Design Apartments Beach Front with The Little Voyager

There are many beautiful beaches in the region so why not pack a picnic and some beach gear and spend the day building sandcastles, jumping in the waves and relaxing in the sun?

The closest beach would be about 5 minutes away by car and is located in Capitolo. This is a nice family beach where you’ll find a beach club with bar and restaurant, called Lido Bambu.

Water park

Acquapark Egnazia is southern Italy’s largest water park and offers endless fun for sure for the little ones.

Open every day from 17th June until 10th September. (Try to avoid the weekends as it gets quite busy.)

The Caves of Castellana

The famous Grotte di Castellana began to form about 90 million years ago and is without doubt one of the main tourist attractions when visiting Puglia. It’s a truly magical experience for both kids and adults.

There are two different tours: The first is suitable for children and stretches over about 1 km lasting approximately 50 minutes and the second tour is 3 km long and lasts about 2 hours. We advise you to bring along a sweater as the air in the caves is very humid and it might get a bit chilly.

Adventure Park Castellana Grotte

Here you can find several climbing trails for kids from age 2 years (there is a “Baby Park”) until adult age. There is a very nice picnic area as well!

Open every day from March 10 - November 10.

Golf

Apulian Design Apartments Sea Views with The Little Voyager

The championship golf course San Domenico Golf Club is located about 20 minutes from the Apulian Design Apartments. Opened in 2003, it has hosted a number of major national and international golf tournaments and is surrounded by the beautiful Puglian countryside. The 18-hole course has a par of 72.

Locorotondo

Apulian Design Apartments Local Village with The Little Voyager

Locorotondo really does keep the promise of its proud title “One of Italy’s most beautiful villages”. The historical town centre is especially well-kept and looked after. This is mainly due to the fact that most of the houses are being lived in which is not always the case in other small villages. You will find lovingly restored facades, lots of beautiful flowers and plants on the balconies and many little restaurants that offer great local cuisine. The city is also famous for its wines and the name derives from its circular structure which means "Round place".

Alberobello

A must-see place when visiting Puglia. The lovely village in Southern Italy is a Unesco site with 1500 perfectly preserved trulli (white, cone-roofed stone huts) and it is the only town built entirely of Trulli houses.  Please note due to its popularity It can get quite busy there, so it makes sense to visit the town if possible early morning. A great place to stop for ice cream: Gelateria Arte Fredda is right on the main road.

Matera

Matera is the other Unesco World Heritage site in the area. Its setting is truly spectacular as it is built around a small canyon which has been eroded over the course of time. It is one of the oldest inhabited cities of the world and world famous for its “Sassi”, houses dug into the chalkstone rocks - characteristic of this area. Today many of the cave houses are being lovingly restored and turned into shops, bars, restaurants, or B&B’s. Thanks to its amazing scenery Matera is also frequently turned into a movie set.

If you have the time, it makes sense to book a guide as there is a lot to see and learn.

Lecce

Apulian Design Apartments Local Church with The Little Voyager

A bit further away but definitely worth a visit is Lecce. It is a proud small city (90.000 inhabitants) set in the heart of the Salento region, in the south of Puglia and it is to many the true capital of Baroque. It is also a very young, creative, and vibrant city, home to several renowned fine art schools and a very interesting music scene. The centre of town is breathtakingly beautiful with its richly decorated churches, buildings, and arches. There are also several sites from the Roman era and of course many bars and restaurants. Many churches are closed in the afternoons so it is best to get there in the morning.

The Area

Cradled between the sparkling blue of the Adriatic Sea and the gently rolling hills of the interior, the town and municipality of Fasano is a low-key destination offering both coastal and rural attractions.

Situated roughly halfway between the towns of Bari and Brindisi, the coast is still largely undeveloped with long stretches of empty beach whilst inland remains an agricultural region, dotted with fortified farmhouses or ‘masseria’, many of which have been converted into agritourisms and boutique hotels.

The rich farmland produces olive oil, wine, fruit and vegetables, all of which play an important role in the regional cuisine.

Fasano town boasts an attractive historic centre filled with beautiful buildings, little piazzas and winding lanes whilst the surrounding area harbours all sorts of interesting places to visit, from the archaeological excavations of Egnazia to Italy’s largest safari-zoo, the impressive subterranean cave system at Grotte de Castellana and the unique cone-roofed ‘trulli’ houses that are so characteristic of Puglia.
