Things to do - general

Sussex is where coast and countryside meet in the southeast of England. Pretty villages and historic towns are peppered across the county’s rolling green hills, making it the perfect location to experience the gentle pace of rural life in England’s ‘green and pleasant land’.

For those who love the outdoors the 100+ miles of coastline offer plenty of water based activities and, further inland, there are walks, bike rides and all manner of activities to enjoy.

Sussex’s main towns each have a distinctive character, from the alternative, foodie scene in Brighton, and the fairy-tale castles of Hastings and Arundel to the adrenaline-junkie mecca that is Eastbourne. London is easily reached by train in two hours and West Sussex is home to Gatwick international airport.
