The South Tyrolean Nature Resort is a 5-star hotel located in the Dolomites that combines a fun family holiday with gourmet experiences, beautiful surrounding nature and many opportunities to relax. The resort is car-free, meaning that children can run around freely. Its idyllic location at the edge of a valley offers guests stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

The property is an ideal destination for any time of year. In the winter, the hotels offers ski-courses, ski-equipment rental, and a shuttle service to the ski slopes that are only about 5 minutes away. For more experienced skiers, organised ski tours are also available. The natural lake on site becomes an ice-skating rink and the surrounding meadows are perfect for sledding.

During the warmer summer months the valley offers numerous family-friendly excursions, which are accessible on foot or by mountain bike. There are even buggy-friendly hikes, so everyone can join the fun! More adventurous families can go white-water river-rafting on one of the nearby rivers – guided tours for all skill levels are offered from June to September.

Not even rainy days can stop the fun at the South Tyrolean Nature Resort. There is a 400 m² hay barn for kids on site, with a hay-loft children can jump off of to land in the soft hay below. The facilities also include a bouldering wall with a climbing net, a large trampoline and a wall-labyrinth. In the costume room children can try on a large collection of hats, shoes and clothes for a fun afternoon indoors. Another great facility for younger guests is the 30 m² mud room, where kids will find tools and material to dig and build.

The 3.000 m² Mountain Spa is split over 4 stories and includes areas especially designed for families, with different pools to cater to all age groups as well as water park with a 100-meter slide. In the learning pool kids can play underwater memory games and improve their motor skills with an underwater obstacle course.

The hotel’s childcare philosophy is based on Maria Montessori principles, and provides a relaxed, creative environment for children to enjoy their holiday in the mountains to the fullest. Activities include walking to the waterfalls nearby, woodworking in the hotel’s workshop, archery, and picnics in the surrounding woods. The hotel offers age-appropriate programmes for babies, toddlers, children and teenagers.

Parents can enjoy their alone-time at the hotel’s fully equipped gym, relax in the adult-only areas of the Mountain Spa, or take a yoga class in the Yoga-Loft – all while enjoying breath-taking views of the valley and the majestic mountains beyond.

The supervised children’s activities follow Maria Montessori’s principles and take place from Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Activities range from archery, hiking to waterfalls, working with wood or going for picnics in the woods.

Every afternoon between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. there is no supervised childcare, since the hotel organises activities specially designed for families to enjoy together, such as art projects in the wood workshop, treasure hunts or baking bread together. Between 6:30 and 9 p.m. younger guests can join the children’s dinner and enjoy some supervised fun before bedtime.

Splash time

Young swimmers will love the 100m water slide at the hotel’s water park, as well as the heated pool (30C) with underwater games and an obstacle course.

Art studio

At the painting studio children (as well as teenagers and adults) can let their imagination run free on paper – or even on the atelier’s walls, which can be used as a canvas too! Painting equipment and paints are available free of charge. The children’s programme in the art studio runs 4 times a week in high season and guests can make use of this offer up to two times a week.

Wood workshop

Here children can cut, plane, saw, file and work with wood in a supervised environment. The wood used in the workshop comes from the surrounding forest and is either supplied to the hotel or collected by the children during their walks in the forest. Activities at the wood workshop are offered several times a week. In order to make sure that all of the youngest guests have access to these activities, visitors can make use of this offer up to two times a week.

On warmer days the natural swimming pond fed with crystal clear mountain spring water is a great place to cool down and have some fun trying to capsize the pirate raft.

Even on rainy days, the fun at the resort doesn’t stop. The 2-storey, 400m2 hay barn, includes a hayloft that children can jump off of to land safely in the soft hay, a bouldering wall with a climbing net, a giant trampoline and labyrinth. There is also a fancy dress room full of hats, shoes and clothes.

This is definitely one of the highlights of the resort: a 30m2 mud room that uses pure water from the surrounding mountains to create a muddy landscape, perfect for digging and building. There are tools and toys available, as well as mud trousers and boots.

This climbing park offers guaranteed fun for everyone! Both adults and children can try their skills climbing on a course in the middle of the treetops, glide on long zip lines, climb high on a tree or relax in a hammock. It is located in the town of Vipiteno (Sterzing in German), about a 20-minute drive from the resort. You can find more information here.

Hiking

In summer, try one of the several family-friendly hiking trails that surround the resort and be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. In some areas you can take cable cars up the mountains or race down with the children using a mountain cart. There is also a picturesque ring trail in Ratschings called Mountain Adventure World (about a 30-minute drive away from the hotel) with lots of original attractions, where both adults and children can have fun while learning many things about the Alpine landscape.

Skiing

During the winter months there are several different skiing options located only a few kilometres away from the resort, as well as ski schools for the little ones to start learning or improve their skills on the slopes. Additionally, beautiful snowshoe hikes and long toboggan rides await you all winter long!
