Last year, right after Christmas, we went to see “The Little Magic Flute”, Mozart’s famous opera adapted for kids. This was held at the Liceu in Barcelona. With our 4-year-old son, we all enjoyed it very much. We had explained the story to him beforehand so he was very excited to go.
If you have not been to the famous Liceu opera house it is a classic and beautiful venue and very impressive for little people (and adults). Just going there is already an event.
This opera for kids is a regular feature of the yearly Petit Liceu programme. This year it was shown on three different dates:
- Saturday, 2nd of December at 11am
- Sunday, 3rd of December at 12pm
- Sunday, December 10th at 11am

The approximate running time is 75 minutes. There is a short interval and this opera is recommended for children aged 6 and above.
I found this to be a great way to introduce kids to the magic of opera, even if they are still a bit younger than the recommended age.
